About AreaCalc

AreaCalc is a free collection of area and square footage calculators built for homeowners, contractors, and DIY enthusiasts. Whether you're measuring a room, estimating paint, or planning a flooring project, our tools give you instant, accurate results — no sign-up or registration required.

Our Mission

Home improvement projects are stressful enough without wrestling with math. We built AreaCalc to make the numerical side effortless: measure your room, enter the dimensions, and get the exact amount of flooring, paint, or tile you need — with waste factors already included.

Every calculator on AreaCalc uses industry-standard formulas. Paint coverage rates, flooring waste factors, and unit conversions are based on real-world trade standards so your estimates are accurate enough to take to the hardware store.

What We Offer

Who Uses AreaCalc?

Our calculators serve a wide range of users across home improvement and construction:

How Our Calculators Work

Enter your room dimensions and the calculator handles the rest. Flooring calculators automatically apply a 10% waste factor — the industry standard for straight-lay installations. Paint calculators let you subtract standard door (21 sq ft) and window (15 sq ft) areas for accurate paintable surface estimates. All cost calculators accept a custom price per unit so you can use real quotes from your local store.

All calculations run directly in your browser. No data is sent to any server, and results appear instantly.

Unit Support

AreaCalc supports feet, meters, yards, acres, and hectares across its calculators. The Sq Ft to Sq M converter handles both directions. Carpet calculations automatically output square yards (the unit carpet is sold in). Tile calculations work with any tile size in inches or feet.

Accuracy Notes

Our calculators provide estimates based on standard formulas and typical industry waste factors. Actual material requirements may vary based on room shape irregularities, installer skill, specific product dimensions, and pattern matching requirements. Always verify with your installer or retailer before final purchase, especially for large projects.
